I am putting new tires on my 74 Firebird. The choices come down to Dunlop GT Qualifiers either in 235 or 245/60/15. The other option is 225/70/15 BFG TA's or Goodyear eagle II's.

I have been looking all over the internet to see pictures of the dunlops to see if they look good, but I can't find any pictures.

Would anyone here be kind enough to post some pictures of their wheels/tires if you are usine Dunlops? I really appreciate the help

Go to tirerack.com and check them out there. You can see pictures as well as get reviews on just about any tire made. By the way I put a set of those on my Lemans and I like'em.

Hi I tried to start my own tire topic but for some reason keep getting booted off.
I've got a 68 Firebird and am building it for Solo2 autocross events. Will 245/60/15's fit up front I currenly have drum brakes but will upgrade to discs If my times suck. the rims I have are 15x7 w 4 3/4 Back Spacing up front and 15x8 w 4 3/4 BS in rear. also will 255/60/15's fit in rear? thanks Sorry to inturupt the Dunlop conversation but I agree TireRack.com is where I have just spent the past few hours. good pictures, reviews and specs. I was hoping to see how they look on a Firebird. I think if you get tires that are too wide and short, they look funny on some cars.

Yeah, But I'm looking for maximum performance in the corners out of my tires. I was thinking wider is a little better especially when it comes to the front for autocross events. I currently have 235/60/14 all around and they look great. I just don't want any rubbing cause in the corners they will rub a lot.

If you look through the backloged suspention and steering posts you might find a picture. I spent a few hours last night looking and found tons of good pictures of various cars w/ different size tires but non of the 1st gen firebirds with 15's. I don't think you'll be dissapointed with 235's all around they are stout and handle well. I use them on my 14's The 245's may be to big up front and that is what I'm trying to find out for my 68.

DUnlops are hard as heck so they will slide alot !
I ran the autocross with my 255/60/15 dunlops. There not dangerous bad but there not auto Cross tires but then there probably about as good as it gets in a 15" rim ...
You might try the Nittos Drag radail on all 4 corners Ive been reading they work ok, but I'm still looking into it.

Will 245/60/15's 4 3/4 back spacing fit up front on a 68 bird for autocross or should I stick with my tried and true 235's.

A lot of people say they can't even get 235s to fit up front so you're probably stuck there. You can always go larger in the back. I have 265/50R15 out back of my 69 bird and they just fit inside the well and are just ever so slightly taller than the front tires at 215/60R15. I'm using an 8" w/4.75" backspace rim.

"74 was the last year for the G60-15 on the Firebird/T/A. The equivalent would be 245/60-15. In '75 they went to the 225/70-15. Either one looks good on a 15x7 Rallye II but the 70 is taller and will throw off the speedometer. I've seen 235/60-15s on '68 Firebirds and they fit well and have sufficient space around the tire to avoid rubbing. I'd shy away from a wider tire in front. The back will go a couple sizes bigger if the cars not lowered; you'll have to experiment.
