I recently bought two very nice original deluxe interior front seats for my 68. I then bought the black deluxe rear seat upholstery from Year One (PUI)to replace the standard cover. When you look at the pattern of the original front seats and the pattern of the repro. upholstery on the rear seat their not even close. The over all design is the same and I checked the part number but the comfort weave pattern is way off. Is this acceptable or did Year One screw this up? Should I begin searching for an original rear seat with black deluxe interior in order to get the correct match to the front seats? I'd appreciate any advice as I am new to restoring.

I have replaced the entire interior to my 69 FB and I did not compare the old to the new "comfort weave" marterial but I do not remember it being way off. I would contact Year One and see what their repsonse is. I remember reading somewhere that the comfrot weave is not offered for aftermarket restorations. My interior came from Year One but that was 10 years ago.

68andTopless good luck in your resto. New stuff is close but not right. As far as the deluxe interior and comfort weave I'm not sure on what is correct. My 68 has the orginal deluxe seats in it but does NOT have comfort weave inserts and the seats haven't been redone. An old catalog I had and still searching for showed more than 1 type of insert for the Deluxe seats.

The old supplies of comfortweave in black has dried up. My buddy has been contacting upholstery suppliers and shops around the country buying up whatever he can find.
That particular weave pattern was used in Corvettes from 68 to 75, LeMans/GTO in 70, Camaro and Grand Prix in 69, plus many Chevy trucks in the 70s. Also in a few late 70s Toyotas and I'm sure many other cars of which I'm unaware. Most of what he's been finding are very odd colors, such as oranges, greens, plaids, two-tones, etc. The earlier reproduction interiors were using actual old stock material, which has not been produced for many years. Last repro interior I bought was a 69 Firebird Parchment set in 1994 (from Ames), which still used the correct pattern. The repro material has a larger weave pattern which I've seen in original 71-73 Mustangs. Whether it's a currently available material or leftover stock, I couldn't tell you.
