As of October 1st, all new IA2 engine blocks will feature the main caps registered in the pan rails. They will no longer incorporate dowel pins. The pan rails have been raised .125" in order to register the main caps, which will be a better, stronger way to help minimize any main cap movement as much as possible, especially with high rpm/ high horsepower combinations. By doing this, the blocks will now need a longer oil pump drive, which will be included in the block hardware kit that is being sold by ALLPONTIAC, Spotts Performance, Maximum Race Engines, and anyone else that will be selling the block.
To those that do not know by now, each block now incorporates screw in style freeze plugs. These screw in type plugs will also be included in the same hardware kit. The block hardware kit will include everything needed to prep the IA2 block.
