Where will this be available? I remember when they used to sell those kits. I've often thought about them, and where they all went. I also wonder how many kits were made/sold.

I think he wants to see what the response would be before he decides anything.

I'm glad to hear about Craig doing something with Pontiacs again. Thanks for letting us know about John. I have great respect and admiration to him as well as Kern Osterstock. Steve www.pontiacheaven.org

Craig's bonnet would receive some stiff competition from the CSU, Extreme Energy, and the
Gale Banks people. Gale Banks will have his retro- Twin Turbo set-up at PRI in a few days. Is Craig or John C. bringing a Turbo-Force set-up to PRI? Tom V.

Turbo is also super low near the oil pan. Look out for possible improper oil drain back issues.

"Turbo is also super low near the oil pan. Look out for possible improper oil drain back issues." The drain hose is very short (maybe 4" long) and goes into the side of the timing cover below the radiator hose/ timing cover water inlet. Whe HO produced the parts it looks like they made many passes over the void in the cover so that they had a place for the fitting to mount in the normally thin area there. Today with the CNC covers, like the one you have, you would just put a boss there for the drain inlet. HO tried to make their kit so that you did not have to remove the engine from the vehicle to weld a fitting in the pan. I would just run a hose to a fitting on the pan today because if you build a EFI boosted engine you are going to have the engine out anyway. Tom V.

One reason why I was excited about the deal is
that the majority of the packaging was completed YEARS AGO! The pipes from the exhaust manifolds are easy to recreate for the F-bodies. The plate that holds the turbo can easily be modified for a later type (higher flow) turbo. The bonnet was designed to fit under the shaker. Swapping out the carb and stock type mainifold for a EFI Victor and a big throttle body might actually gain shaker clearance to the hood. The turbo discharge could be made larger but a small increase in diameter on a big discharge pipe makes a big difference in flow. Attaching the single discharge pipe to new style large tube exhaust parts would be easy. As far as the inter-cooler goes, a Vortech style brick in the right side area next to the radiator with plumbing from the turbo to it and then to the bonnet would be easy to create. I see a major development here for the Pontiac Firebird guy with the efi Victor and potential Turbo Force parts return. Tom V.

Even though I race a pontiac my other toy is a 5.0 mustang. There are any number of bolt-on power adders for that platform and any number of EFI tuners that can extract the maximum from a given combo, often over the phone to a guy burning chips next to the dyno. It's no big deal anymore for those guys. I'd love to see this kind of bolt on technology (especially a turbo kit!) for a poncho come to market. Good times indeed. |

If anybody is interested, I have one of these HO Racing turbo kits that I would sell. I don't have the turbo itself, But I have most everything else, the bonnet, the exhaust, the timing cover, and a few other pieces.
