Does anyone know if there is a difference between the A-Body radio and the F-body AM radio? In other words, can I install a 92APB1 (A BODY) radio in my firebird, f body (stock location). They look identical to me, but would like to know if there is a differenc I need to be concerned about.. Thanks!

basically, will a 69 gto radio fit in a 69 firebird without modification? the GTO radio number is 92 A PB1 and the FIREBIRD number is 92 F PB1. I am looking at pictures and they look identical other than the knobs and the label with 92APB1 on it. The 9 is for the year 69 and the A or F is for A body or F body. I have a line on a like new gto am radio, this is why i am wondering, before i buy it. Thanks.. George

I was told you need to cut the devider out of the dash on a bird to use the GTO radio, also the push buttons are longer on the bird.No one makes a aftermarket for the 69 bird.68s and 70s are diff.Tom

The tuner buttons are longer as on the FB 69 radios and as far as far as I know that is the only diference as compared to the GTO radio same year. I pulled them off the bck buttons put some epoxy on the button end reinserted and made sure they were not in the station tune detent and all same length. Works great and fits with no cutting.

Does anyone have a 69 firebird AM radio (92FPB1) they would like to sell me? Must be in great condition. If it looks great but doesn't work, I still may be interested.

Thanks! Geo

You can keep an eye on eBay, that's how I got my 69 FB AM radio. Just make sure you have good pics of a 69 - just in case the seller isn't sure. Got mine for $50. The AM-FM are $500+ (picture from eBay) / the AM-FM stereo go for $1,000+
