I cleaned up and lubricated the old hood hinges today-they have been sitting for about 3 years and worked fine in the past. Installed a new "repo" and the hinges wouldn't budge! Seems like they are binding. The repo hood is considerably lighter and thinner making is susceptible to damage if the hinges don't function correctly. Any ideas on how to get them to function correctly or should I just ante up and get new ones?

If you go with new ones make sure to spend the extra money and get the better repos, I bought the cheaper repos last year and one of them already busted a rivet, nearly a paint job disaster. I got new repos from Ames for $145 a pair.

If that is a fiberglass hood they make a lighter spring for the hinges so they will close.

It is the repro metal hood.
