I need to ask some basic questions about brake parts and interchange. I need to order some brake components and I'll have to pay a lot of shipping to get them here so I need to get it right.

I have the power front disks and rear drums. I know that my year should have disks with big grooves in them but I seem to have disks without a groove. The calipers appear to be stock. They say Delco-Morraine and look original. I need new front disks and I don't know if I can cross-reference with any other years. I also don't know if I need new bearings as the disk seems to have the bearings in it.

I also need new flexible brake lines. The rear one is split and they are all old. Summit has some nice braided kits giving front and back as a set but they have one for 69 cars. One for 72-73 cars, one for 74-75 cars and absolutely none for 70-71. Were there really that many changes in the flexible brake lines? Can anyone help?

Thanks. It looks like Autozone is not such a great option if you don't actually have a US street address. Such is the pleasure of living in the Middle East...

Is there any site that details the brake changes on Firebird? Were they always the same as Camaro? Did the flexible lines really change every two years?

Also, my flexible line which is split sits rather close to the Flowmaster muffler (it's a complete exhaust system with a single dual in/dual out muffler right by the fuel tank and rear axle. The way it sits the rubber brake line for the rear is right next to it. Would this have made it fail or are brake temperatures higher than exhaust temperatures anyway? Has anybody else had this problem?
