I have a convertor problem that I wanted to get taken care of before the snow flies so I could get the car back together right away but it has already snowed 3 times . Well like I said maybe next year. I know this is the wrong topic but maybe someone knows....how much slip can you expect from a 8" convertor on top end with a car that weighs 3520, 3.89 gears and 29.5" slick? I think that my convertor is slipping way to much but who knows maybe I am just paranoid... Well talk to you all later. Chad Dammen ND's fastest Pontiac (I think) and Minot's fastest street car (not like that means much)

D-port #62 on a 468.
Honest dad, that 455 on the side of the block is a serial number

Old street/strip...6X's milled to 86cc, home ported (230 cfm?), on a stock stroke 462.
New strip/street...62's race ported (254 cfm at .600" on a 4.151" bore @ 28"), on a 468 (4.25" stroke by 4.186" bore). These heads have gone 10.50's @ 126-MPH on a 400 in a 3400 lb. car, so we'll see what happens with the tubby T/A. 308cfm is 308cfm, it doesn't know what head it's flowing through. Can't use the argument about velocity either, E-head port side by side with R.A. IV port is close, ported ot not.

Brian, he didn't say that both heads had to flow the same. He is saying that his RA IV's will out perform Any E-head, without power adders in the same weight car.

IMO you can pretty much lump the #12, 13, 16, 48 and 62’s into the same category. The #12 and 48’s have greater value for the restorers of RAIIIs but other wise there are little if any performance difference.

#16 round port SD heads. No porting. Some casting flash cleaned up and exhaust ports polished. Unknow flow numbers (but not much off stock, I'd imagine) Ultradyne 280/288 cam.
8.31 in the 1/8th at Butler's this year (Yeah, it's slow but I can run 87 octane and cruise all day with those 3:08 gears)

torqjunki....call your office!!
how about a 462 and a set of d-ports flowing a measly 275cfm, a flat tappet solid, 3650lbs street car, running 10 teens in the 1/4. however you slice it, iron vs. aluminum, its all in the way a port can efficiently flow the air.

I could have them done if you're really interested. My motor is supercharged so the intake ports have very little done. Gasket matched at the front and a quick run through with some sanding rolls. The exhaust roof were raised to match the gasket and the bolt bosses were knocked down/back. Basically there isn't enough done to them to screw anything up. I'm just looking to go back to the iron heads because I really don't need the airflow potential of the E's with the supercharger. I do have a nice new $500 set of 2" headers for the round port exhaust flange though so I don't want to go back to Dports. Let me know I've got all winter up here now
