I'll be there if I don't break too much the day be before at the shootout. Quality of Atlanta Dragway? When you run there after the big boys it hooks great, great track. Not too sure how it will be after being washed by a Hurricane. We don't need any more rain here. We had 6.15" in 4 hours last nite and 1 death surfing a local creek that turned into white water rapids. Flooded my shop and damaged our computer. And more on the way . Rain Rain, Go Away! -Jim

Jim, sorry to hear about your shop. My power was not on until lunchtime today. When I was driving to work, three were telephone poles snapped in half, and the power lines sitting on the ground. There was also about half a pine tree sitting way out in a hay field. At least thee hundred feet from any trees . . .

Fast Floridian, I am hoping to be there, depending on how my sheduling goes, but I will be a mere spectator . . .

I'll be there Wens for the HPP shootout and thurs for the race. Don't expect much from this track- the facilities are nice but the track sucks. If they don't spray the groove heavily before the race it is hard to get any traction. Maybe we can all pitch in and get enough $$ to get them to spray it.

Or whether those merely spectating would be allowed in?

Better bring your swimming trunks and a boat.
Ya check the weather heading MAYBE, but looks highly possible, that way.

I don't know if I can stand another year like last year.

I am planning on going both days. You three 66 GTO's will have my Firebird in the mix at the shootout. Hard Times said they were doing a feature on his car the same day, so I expect him and his Firebird to be there.

Junk Yard Dog, I was told to be at the front gate at 0745 or 0800 (I think). I am going solo, and you are allowed one guest. (My wife wanted to go, but we have kids. That would put use over the one guest limit). You can go with me If you like...

And then we have the one thing that no one can control, The Weather.

Dude, I hope you are wrong about needing swim trunks and a boat...

Ken,
Don't throw your soggy Florida mojo at us! We've had enough rain already . I'm starting my anti-rain dance now.

I'm going on Thursday (with car) and will hang out for the show. If they don't spray the track - I'm in trouble

Latest forecast shows projected path of "Dennis" to be past the Commerce area by Tuesday. Scattered thunderstorms with 40% chance of rain - pretty much the same as it has been the past 2 weeks.
I think the racing gods may smile on us next week! Keep your fingers crossed .

Paul,
Don't think you'll need to worry about them spraying the track as I think the asphalt will be melting at this rate!

Dude, don't jinx us!! They say misery loves company, well.... we are already miserable!! You have Hurricanes and we get Tornado's Did you see Atlanta Motor Speedway?? Damage estimates at 40 million . You know you have it bad when the local station is tracking a Tornado and draws the little circle right over your house!! 6-1/2" of rain in 4 hours!! As Grandma used to say, "we should have never sent those men to the moon, it messed everthing up". -Jim

Weather Channel still showing thundershowers both days . . .

What's the rain date?

P.S. It is down to a forty percent chance, now . . .

I called the track today, The storm did no damage to the track, or equipment. He also said the racing surface was dry at the time I called around 1300 EST. Hopefully Dennis will continue to move on and dissipate. Savannah was cloudy, and looked like it wanted to rain all day. It just rained a little, not a big downpour though. I am loading my truck tonight, heading to Atlanta tomorrow, unless the Wx makes a major change for the worse...
