Hi all,

I am converting a '69 Bird from auto to manual trans and am currently installing the ball pivot in the block for the z-bar. I noticed that the original steel protective tube for the starter solenoid wiring [secured by a single bolt in back of the driver's side cylinder head]curves down directly in the way of where the z-bar will need to go. Is there a manual trans specific tube for this car, and/or will I have to reroute the harness to the solenoid [that currently originates from the distributor area]?

I know the A-body tube won't work as it is designed to fit between the last two cylinder branches of the driver's exhaust manifold. The F-body manifolds simply won't clear it.

Is there anyone with a M/T '69 Bird that can take a peek at the routing of their solenoid starter wiring please?

Mine is routed the same area as the A body, but it goes on the outside of the exhaust without the tube.

My T/A is the same as Azbirds, as they both have the longbranch manifolds. My '69 400 FB with log manifolds and a M-20 has the tube for the wires.

Mike, which manifolds does your car have? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Thanks for the replies. This car has the standard log manifolds. The original metal tube goes behind the cylinder head, right where the Z bar needs to go.

69 T/A, does your metal tube start behind the left cylinder head and go under the log manifold, or do the wires come around the bottom of the valve cover and then drop down the outside of the log manifold [like an A- body]?

Mike, the engine isn't in the car currently but from what I remember it was in the same place as a '68 350 I had. I wish I could take pics of the tube but it's 150 miles from me. If someone doesn't come foward with a better answer I'll be going up there in 2 weeks and will compare it to the '68 tube.

Ohh and it certainly went under the log manifold just like the '68 did.
