Slowspitzer is probably close. He ran low 9 second times at Cordova using 6X heads on gas.
My brother just put a very mild 400 with 6X heads and hydraulic street cam in his dragster to get his daughter licensed. Ran 6-teens in 1/8th mile. Talk about slow.

Your car leaves nice Bob, How much does it weigh? My '66 Tempest weighs in at 2450 pounds with a 406 and #62 heads. Ran a 10.18 best n/a on pump gas, 93 octane.

It weighs about 1800# with me in it. And I can't describe what it is but Altereds are WAY more fun to watch than any dragster outside of Top fuel or Top alky. A 7 second rail seems just another car, But I heard people were running up to see me go down the track!-Go figure!-Nice to be noticed.-Bob.

Bob needs to call Donnie Reeves for a Firebird flopper body, and install a 8-71 on that motor for some nostalgia flopper fun.
Seriously though, altereds are cool. They're just funny cars with an open body. Dragsters are cool too, so long as the engine is up front. RED's are boring...to watch anyway.

Whether rails suck or not was not in the question.

Nitrous, now there's an idea. My car could, maybe, keep up with the Wallace Brothers

My 220" 400 #62 D-port carbureted gas dragster runs 8.70's at 151+. The pistons are down in the hole .060 so it's a bit low on compression. Fun car.

Too bad tractor pulling doesn't have clocks; I had some pulls in the range of ten seconds with my blown Pontiacs! Only 300 feet though- but pulling a 14,000 pound sled!
Oops (again)- looked back and saw you asked for N/A times. Well at least one of my engines had D-ports.
