i was browsing through ebay last week and came upon this GTO. what do you think about it? $4k for a PHS Judge with the possibility of the org. engine? sounds like a low price, as in what's up with it?? LOLOL

this was the ebay auction # 2400693001.

was it worth 4k? it looks like a lot of work.

I would need to see more detailed pictures, but it looks like a solid car. The reserve isn't met yet. If I had to guess, I'd say the reserve is between 7 to 8 grand.

I'd ask to see the P.H.S. documents before bidding.

thanks for the reply. the link you provided is a different auction than what i was referring to. although i did see this one too.

the one i am talking about is a closed auction. it closed last week. it said it sold for $4k. and i was looking for very general opinions on it. I am very new to this, and am testing the market for what a 69 GTO Judge project car could run (PHS documentation and #'s matching).

A '69 RAIII 4spd Judge hardtop project with minor amount of rust, numbers match original block & heads, & intake, original transmission & rearend can easily fetch $7500-12k.

Color mix, desirable original options (not added options), correct & really nice condition steel RA pans, correct original dated RA carb, nice original front valance, nice used t/l bezels, perfect used dashpad will ALL add value to the project. As such, going to have to pay more for decent project. 4K is not going to buy much at all, have sold three '69 Judge projects over the years & chased many more.

5 years ago, a local friend gave 6K for carousel red/parchment interior 4spd RAIII Judge project. Car had original engine, date coded M20, correct RA manifolds, no carb, no RA pans, no correct distributor, wrong wheels. Car also had enough 1/4 panel rust for all 3 patch panels per side. Also needed better fenders & a primo trunklid.
Thankfully original RA hood & original valance were about as nice as one could find.

Today with addition of correct dated replated RA Q-jet, nice original RA pieces, correct restored 4spd shifter & backdrive linkage, correct dated wheels, nice steering wheel, correct coded radiator core, etc, car has an easy $9500 in it & bodywork & engine build, & frameoff have not commenced. I seriously doubt it could replaced as a project (as complete) for $9500.

Well another example is I paid $6,500 for my Judge project. PHS documented, numbers matching engine and M20 trans, no ram air parts, no exhaust manifolds, no carb, no radiater,hood was shot, 1/4s needed on patch panel, fenders needed some work - not really bad, floor boards needed 1/4 replaced, trunk needed a section welded in. Rear window channel needed to be completely rebuilt. Interior was totally destroyed and needed everything including dash pad. Rear bumper needed replacing, incorrect wheels on the car.

It was a real mess! Sad to see such a classic car in that condition..

Two years and $17,000 later it is finished and on the road - a complete frame off job. Total investment - $23,500 - but she's a beauty!

it looks like you did most of the work yourself. i don't think i could paint my car. excellent excellent work.

there is a 69 Judge up by me, they want $7500 for it, and externally it does not look as good as yours.

From the looks of the under side,frame and over-all apperance of the '69 Judge that R-70Judge posted that would make a nice project to start on!It looked pretty solid,had a wood steering wheel and the Data code showed 72-72 paint code which would be tha Carousel Red color!Still you need to send the VIN off to PHS and have it verified.I've seen worse looking Judges go for more money than that!Anyone remember the '69 Judge that had extensive fire damage and sold for several thousands on E-Bay,or the wrecked Green '69 GTO Convertible that had a RAIV motor?It went as high as $14,000.00!! I noticed there were pictures of it on www.ultimategto.com did it ever sell or what was the deal on it?

The wrecked RA4 GTO convt out of Nashville area that was on e-Bay two years ago sold to a collector buddy, & is in mid restoration. Was told that area on the lh 1/4 popped out, & the cowl was not damaged badly on lh side like previously worried about. Bodyman seemed to be having an easier time at it than I imagined. Mainly remember the car, as Misus & I were bidding on it the 1st time

Started with a $4500.00 "project RAIII,4spd ht, nearing completion and @ $30k. As with any project, start with the best car you can afford. This car has original motor with original pistons, @ 1 to 1.5 thou wear on cylinders, no expense spared elsewhere, Gardner exhaust,etc. Basically will be a brand new '69 Judge,all original body panels,totally rebuilt drivetrain,3.55 rear, M-20,744 cam[early car]. Just dragged home a '70 Orbit Orange RAIII auto, air, numbers-matching 58k original Kansas car, dismantled and stored since'82, all RA stuff intact, NOS drivers 1/4,both fenders,f&r valance panels,a-m 8-track, rust around back window, all other panels seem ok, ome surface rust in trunk. What's it worth? Probably will be selling our '69 ragtop to do this one. Looks like a keeper. Ron.
