has anyone here use the new muncie case that they had in car craft (i think ). they also said you could buy new gears (close, wide, roadrace, and O.D.) from them too. the site is www.autogear.net . i dont know if they have all the parts to build one or if you have to find the other stuff in a JY or at swap meets. i was thinking about doing this and getting their wide ratio gears. they have this article at www.carcraft.com under how-to and select pont. Anyone have any comments about this stuff?

I have one of those. Also have the M22W gears and iron mid-plate. Nice stuff.

After a local Muncie "guru" ruined my original M20 I sent the mess out to Wally Knight in MD. which is what I should have done from the beginning. He did a great job and even built a custom plywood shipping container that suspends the trans inside so if it was set on end, no weight would be on the input or output shafts.

Before my Centerforce DF clutch decided it didn't want to release anymore the new trans shifted like a "hot knife through butter".

I still have my old case but after two blow-ups, the countershaft fits real loose, one reason to buy the Super Case. $225 for a brand new case vs $120 to have the old case counterbore bushed.

Since I was into it this far might as well use the iron mid-plate for another $65.

The M22W gears (2.56, 1.75, 1.36, 1) don't seem real noisy like original M22 gears do, at least in my car. Maybe the case has something to do with them being a little quietier. Parts fit tighter in the new case, counter gear end-play is no more than .010".

If you are planning on buying all new gears I think it makes sense to use the new case and mid-plate.

To build a new trans it is not going to be long where ALL new parts will be available. Already you can buy the case, mid-plate, gears, mainshaft, retainer, shift forks and misc parts. Due out soon is a side cover, extension housing (32-spline size) and shift levers. Next year I hear there will be an OD "Super Muncie" with a .8 5th gear. The OD trans will use a different case but built along the same lines as the Super Case in terms of quality and fit and the whole OD package will be offered in kit form.
