I thinking about converting from a th350 to the new Richmond ST-10.


I'm starting from zero here and would like to put together a good package that works well together for steet/strip with a 400 225/230 cam and 3.42 rear gear.

I seen some posts but none seem to cover all the details problems issues in one place.

With all the options and opinions on this subject I hope that any future posts will point me in the right direction.



I'm looking for stories, part numbers, advice, pros/cons, likes/dis-likes on ...

- ST-10 vs Muncie.

- ST-10 or ST-10 plus.

- Which 1st, 2nd, 3rd, gear ratios.

- Clutch size 10.4 or 11.

- Clutch/Pressure plate kits.

- Factory bellhousing or scatter shield.

- Clutch fork issues with bellhousing type.

- Flywheel type and size.

- Shifter that will fit best.

- Shifter linkage kit for the ST-10.

- Floor modifications required.

- Repro pedal assemblies quality.

- Repro Z-bar and pedal linkage kits quality.

- Factory A/T console fit or boot on the floor.

- Trans mount type.

- Cross member 350 or 400.

I'll also post on the Pontiac street forum for advice on the more general items.

I always support our host when I can but...

For the Z-bar and linkage, Classic Industries has a kit that includes everything you need (Z-bar, frame bracket, pushrods, return spring, etc.). The kit is actually for a Camaro but fits the Firebird and works well and there are no problems with the quality of the parts. I think it was around $100.

Why not go with a 5 speed and add a little cruise-ability.

you wouldnt happen to know the part number or have a link for the linkage kit would you? I have been looking at the classic industries site and cant find it. thanks.

I went through the same thing last year when I was shopping around. I doesn't show up on the web-site but it's in their catalog (pg. 594). Part number is K511...$94.95. (You can download their catalog section M and see it there.)

Did you order the conversion parts and receive them yet? Just wondering what you thought about the install of the repro clutch pedal assy and the the Z-bar.
