I just got my dash back from rechroming and was surprised to note that they filled the hole where my speaker switch goes (either that or they gave me a different dash). I can't tell exactly where it goes so if anyone has a picture of thier dash with a front back speaker switch, I would really appreciate seeing it. I am really nervous about drilling holes in this as it looks really nice and I dont want to screw it up.

Heres a fewe shots from my 66' should be the same.
If you lay the bezel onto the upper dash you will see the way it will match the contour of the lip/edge. it will sit just behind the dash pad.

They also may have very well given you a different dash.
They do so many they might have them ready to go out.
Have you tryed to sand on the backside to see if you can find the old hole?

That really helps. I think I can see where they filled the hole but its not round its more of a rectangular disturbed area. I believe that it is my original dash as the RH radio hole has the same cutout I remember on the one I sent them. Thanks again for your help.

Who done the work on your dash Gene and how long did it take? Looks great.

I sent it to Mr G's out of texas. It took a couple months but I think they did a really nice job. I am no where near ready for it yet but it's something I can work on in the evenings without making any noise (ie cutting wheels, grinders etc). The only problem I ran into is the vaneer for the heater controls didn't fit. I have 3 sets of controls and it didnt fit any of them. The vaneer i bought from them did fit prety well on the dash itself and I just got the third heater control cleaned up and the existing vaneer matches pretty well (better than the one in the first picture). I also had them re-chrome the dome light base and it came out nice too.

They are only chrome on the edges. Inside is painted a dark blue green color. I'll try to get a pic using natural light it looks different then these photos without the flash. I like what you did with your dash.

I don't have any pics of mine, but for those who want a quick fix... I went to Walmart and found chrome model paint in the little glass containers. I bought a little model brush and (very carefully) went around the edges of my gauges. It doesn't look as good as Gene's (very nice by the way) but it covered up the black marks very nicely. Just my .02

What kind did you get I got the Testors silver chrome and it was def. not the right color

I decided not to drill the hole just yet. I may wind up with a new am/FM with the pontiac logo you see in the PY and Ames catalogs, if I do, then I wont need the in dash speaker selector. I'll cross that bridge later. I did put new knobs, bezels, glass, cleaned up the gauges, got the tach from PY that goes where the clock would normally go. It's pretty nice but sits a little lower than the other gauges normally sit. So the end result is I am realy happy with the job Mr G's did, and the price was great. Yhe woodgrain they sent is good but the piece for the heater selectors just plain did not fit. I tried it on 3 different units.
