I recently purchased a Delco Moraine cadmium plated brake booster for a 1966 GTO. The original booster worked fine but did not have the cadmium plate appearance as the Moraines. This Moraine booster neither fits correctly or works at all. Has anyone experienced a similar problem or solution?

Send your new booster back for a full refund. Then either send your old booster to a reputable rebuilder(~$150.00) or take it apart yourself and have it replated at your local plating company (~$50.00). They really are simple devices and arent hard to work with at all.

Is the booster you bought bigger than the one that came off the car? A 1967 innner fender has a bigger dip in it to clear the latter model brake boosters.

The booster is correct dimensionally (diameter) but manufactured incorrectly for function at fitment (you have to do some grinding to fit it). The booster leaked when tested and the brake pedal rod is incorrect, give it a incorrect brake travel. I have returned the part back to the vendor as Brew suggested. I will order another to see if there is an update or I will send my new non cadmium plated booster for plating (perfectly functional). |
