As a 16 yr old back in 78 (With a 78 TA)I read your Books and anything that was in the Mag's with HO in it. It's turning out to pretty easy because of all the enthusiasm. I do remember driving TurboForce #1 (see http://TransAmCountry.com/forum). That car would make your eyes water under turbo-acceleration. I expect that we'll all have fun with this project! And kick some rice-burner ass in the process (to say nothing of some crate motors, etc). Craig Hendrickson, the "H" in H-O Racing Specialties. Craig H,
I haven't had the pleasure to meet you but, I did get to meet Kern a few times in the 70's. I own every copy of The High Output (sadly, it was in an issue of The High Output that I first read that the Pontiac V-8 was to be discontinued). I couldn't believe it, but it was true!. You helped motivate and to learn not to settle for second. I admired and appreciated your writing attitude and style back then not to mention its unparelled informative content. The High Output was "all meat and no BS" you know what I mean. You 2 guys were very influential/motivating to me and, I'm sure, countless others in the 70's. Best of luck to you with your turbo venture. I invite you to consider coming out to my Pontiac drag/show/parts event this April here in Phx. You can show off your deal to a REAL Pontiac crowd! When you get a minute, check out my web site. It's as hard core Real Pontiac as is possible. take care, Steve Barcak www.pontiacheaven.org

Steve,
Thanks for the kind words. At this juncture, I'm amazed at the number of old H-O customers out there. There are at least two here in Pahrump, NV (which is otherwise famous as Art Bell's hometown). Both have volunteered to help wrench on this turbo project and one has already donated the intake and QJet off his 1971 Forumla.
quote:
Originally posted by Steve Barcak: (snip) I invite you to consider coming out to my Pontiac drag/show/parts event this April here in Phx. And you've had lots of hits, too. I'd appreciate a link to my project, if that's not too much trouble. I'll try to make that April '04 meet. Progress should be pretty good by then and maybe I can find time to throw a paint job on the old '76 Esprit, so it'll be presentable. Craig Hendrickson, the "H" in H-O Racing Specialties. Craig, I've added the link for you. We really want you come out and be with us either with or without a car. Pontiac Heaven Drags & More is turning into one of the bigger Pontiac events that include racing in the west. Also High Performance Pontiac magazine will be in attendence and looking for features and stories. Contact me with any questions, it's the place to be in early April. Steve www.pontiacheaven.org

Craig, welcome to the PY board, your knowledge of the Pontiac engine is second to none. I started buying parts from you and Kern back in late 1973 when all you sold were carb and ign kits. I continued to buy parts from H/O Racing thru the 70's 80's 90's and i just ordered 4 of the oil galley plug kits from Ken Crocie last week, H/O part # HW-51, one plug drilled with the famous .030 hole. I also have all the high output newsletters from August 1974 thru the last issue July 1979. Yourself and Kern got me started with the Pontiacs with all the great reading material and parts that you sold to me over the years. In 1972 you were running that 65 Tempest with the 326" engine with a tunnel ram and dual quads that ran in the mid 11's. That engine was ahead of it's time. Yourself, Kern, and Ken Crocie are all fine people.

Welcome Craig...I started buying parts from you and Kern back in late 1973 when all you sold were carb and ign kits. I continued to buy parts from H/O Racing thru the 70's 80's 90's" ditto that for me too.
I also buy from Ken and he prepared one of my cars for an updated GTO Vs. Ferrari handling rematch Car Craft article, which unfortunately did not get in the magazine. Tough getting Ferrari to lend out cars to be embarrassed in print it seems. Anyway Welcome and good luck to you. RAIV Don't leave home without it. www.kingofmusclecars.com

Its been a year since Craig has responded in this thread. His site shows a kit on a car but considering that its been a year since he had a lot going on, I would assume this is probably not going to happen.

That is what was hinted in the email he sent me. He didn’t outright say it but that was my thoughts based on how the email was worded.

He had some medical problems and I think he may not do anymore on this. At least by himself.

Sorry to hear about his medical problems.
I would stick a fork in this one then. I have a few turbo fabricators that I will get in contact with and get something done. I was waiting around hoping that this kit would be available so that I can purchase it over the winter.
