Does anybody reproduce, or is anybody in the pro-
cess of reproducing the two color eyebrow stripe's
that were on early 71 GT-37's, and optional on the
T-37 and standard GTO?

These are seldom seen, much smaller than an actual
Judge eyebrow, and I think I've heard that they
only came in two different color combo's. One set
was White/Red, and the other was Black/White.

Anybody have any info?Roger or Jack maybe?

In some of the old HPP (High Performance Pontiac) on the first page (back side of the front cover) is an ad featuring Dan Jensen's T-37 with the optional stripes. Gives you a good idea of what they look like. Since it is not a PY ad I will not mention the name of the company.

BTW, did you get the e-mails?

OPH, got your email, thanks.

Jack, thanks for the neat old pic's. Were you
running the car through header's or exhaust manifold's at the time of those pic's?
Full exhaust? That thing ran good!

I know which Ad your refering to, and I'm also
friend's with Dan(he helped me locate and decide
to buy my 71 GTO)
I would have to agree that Dan's T-37 is probably
the best example of these stripe's since his car
is a survivor(original paint) and was ordered with
the stripe's new. His car would probably be the
best car to take measurement's from and to make
note's of correct decal location.

Thanks guy's, your both a wealth of information.

4spdT-37,

Pure stock. Don't think I had even changed the plugs. Junk from AK in the trunk. Removed air cleaner (trunk) and that was it. Too bad it didn't have the correct cam in it. Hopefully, (with a pocket full of money) that will change shortly and I'll get it back together.

Did you buy the 3 speed off Dan? I have been to his place and seen his collection. He is just about 1/2 mile from Scott Tieman.

Jack, It was'nt purchased from Dan.
The 3 spd GTO was bought as a part's car for the
T-37, but it will eventually be restored or maybe
a better term would be Restified for use in the
pure stock drag's or Stock Appearing races.

Tom,
I have an NOS rh fender and door stripe, and have been looking for over a year for a quarter stripe to have some made for mine. The correct colors on my car were red/black.The person that i talked to that does stripes said that a tracing would be good enough. The stripes came with a decal location chart for installation.

Does anyone know for sure EXACTLY how many stripe
combo's were available?
White/Red
White/Black
Red/Black

Do these all sound correct? Are there other color
combo's?

Red/black & White/red were the colors for these stripes, can reference this from '72 dated parts books. The quezal gold door & fender I have tucked away have the Red/black version.
My HO post T-37 is cardinal red, if the stripes had been ordered on it, they would have been Red/white. A really good friend in TX & I both ran across a '71 400 4spd GT-37 in Kennedale In '93, & Jason bought it. It had reminents of its original White/red "eye brow" stripes.

Tom,
Depending on date of manufacture they also used another stripe.Early cars had the "eyebrow" stripe, later cars had the reflective stripe. They are repoping the reflective stripe.
The instruction sheet i have is dated 3-18-70 and show the correct placement for the "eyebrow" stripes.

The reflective style "sword" stripes were only used on '71 1/2 GT-37's during '71 production. The '71 1/2's came along begining late 03B & 03C of '71, depending on the assembly plant. Have the numbers wrote down off several chrome front bumper '71 LeMans with optional D98 stripes, that were built in April of '71. All had the eyebrow style stripes.

I have been trying to get the -2- stripe reproduction companies to realize that they -don't- make the correct stripes for 1971 models.
It is nice to see that others are realizing it also. I have seen some very nice restored cars with the wrong stripes(Judge eyebrow) stripes.
The 1971 GTO and T37/Lemans were used in 2 color combinations (red/white) and red/black) based on coutside color combo. When the GT-37 changed stripe design the GTO/T37/Lemans continued with this design. I remember several that I ordered for our dealership in 1971.My black 455H.O. GTO has the original stripes still on it.

Yes, they are the optional stripes that could be ordered on any T-37, LeMans, GTO. Dan Jensens car was build in April and the special order stripes were the style you have on the GTO. OPH stated that in 71 1/2 the stripes on the GT-37 became a sword (reflective) stripe. Here is what one looks like. This is John Sawruk's car. It is the same stripe used in '72 on the LeMans GT.

On these Red/White & Red/Black stripe's, are the
two stripe color's touching each other or is there
a sliver of body color showing between them?
It's been a while since I've seen Dan's T-37 up
close,and I can't remember?

Does someone have a digital camera that can take
a close-up pic on one end of a stripe?
