I recently converted the front brakes on my 68 Firebird to disc and rebuilt the rear drums and put new stainless steel brake lines in as well. I ordered all my stuff through PST and even got the lines through them, which came pre-bent. Well the dang thing didnt come with any instructions so when I put the brake line on the went from the front to the rear it came up short about 3-4 inches from connecting with the bracket on top of the rear differential. But what may solve the problem is that I did not install the proportioning valve that came with the kit. I do have the old stock distrobution block on their but since the kit didnt come with any pictures, for dummies like me, I didnt know how it went on there. If I knew or could actually see what the system looks like on someone elses car it would greatly help. Does anyone have a pic or know where there is a example of what a distrobution box with a proportioning valve setup look like. Maybe one of you guys have done the same conversion and know how it goes together...anyones help would be greatly appreciated.
66Bonne came over today and we looked at it and were pretty much just as confused as we were before we looked at it. Help....

Very nice looking RayJ, you did a really good job. However, my distrobution block looks like the one below and my proportioning valve that PST sent with the kit, the one that you have to dial the pressure in going to the rear brakes looks like a small tic tac box with a knob on the top to adjust it.

use your stock distribution block and put the adjustable valve in the rear line. they should have sent you a 2 piece rear line to use with the valve, but you can cut and flare the 1 piece line. put the adjustable valve anywhere you want to in the rear line, as long as you can get to it to adjust it. firebirds which had them put it under the driver, bolted to the frame. only v8 a/c birds had them.
if you dont have the dist block installed, that is why your line seems too short. OE disc birds also had a holdoff/metering valve for front, but it is not an absolute need. the pic you posted has the lines run correctly, as far as i know. i'm not sure it really matters though, since the only valve in there is the light switch. **************** dist has 5 ports and a switch. switch goes on left, 3 ports 3/16" line front, 2 ports 1/4" line rear -rear of master to rear of dist -front of master to LF of dist (thru metering valve if used) -front port of dist to FL wheel -right front port of dist to FR wheel -left rear port of dist to rear axle (thru prop valve if used) ***************** i hope that made any sense.
