I am the original owner of my 79 T/A, but I can't remember if the car came with spiral shocks. Did GM use that style in 79?

I don't believe your car came with spiral shocks. I owned 77,78 and 79 Trans Ams and none of those had those shocks. Not sure when spirals went away.

I have a 1979 lemans all original except for front shocks but rear a originals and they are spiral.
