When he sees that his parts aren't going to make what he feels they should, he pulls the auction even if there are bids!!!! Then when I send him an e-mail about it and what I feel he pulled, he scoffs at ya and says he doesn't care as he is "IN" with all the TOP Pontiac guys. So go ahead and bitch.
So if ya bid be prepared to have it pulled. I'm notifying E-bay and forwarding those e-mails. Bad busines. Don't start it low without a reserve if ya want more for it. ************************************************** *************************** Build it fast, build it right, build a Pontiac. http://PontiacDude.cc |

Ken,
I had a similar problem on ebay. It was for a 4-inch forged steel crank. There was a reserve price on this item and the reserve had been met. There were at least 6 bids on it, I was the current high bidder with full intent to purchase. The 7 day auction was on its last day and I was keeping a close eye on it. All of the sudden I could not find the auction and when I did find it, it stated that the seller had ended the auction early. I emailed the guy asking what the hell was going on. He said that a local guy came to his house to look at some other items that he had for sale and that the guy wanted to buy everything on the condition that the crank was included. I did not feel that this was right. I thought once the reserve was met on a "reserve price auction" that the transaction was a done deal. I emailed ebay concerning this and they basically said that a seller can pull an auction for any reason at anytime.(tough cookies better luck next time) Try doing something like this with your bidding, I am sure they would have a fit. I had the same thing happen on a 850 Holley. It was supposed to end last Sat. The guy pulled it on the last day. Said he sold it local.
My Rig's a little old, but that don't mean she's slow.

I won a set of tailights for a ventura for $10. The previous week a similar set went for $110. I emailed the seller asking where to send the money and no reply. After 3 days I gave up and left some bad feedback and notified ebay. About two months later the tail lights ended back on ebay under a different name (same location) and the sold for around $50. Has anybody ever had something like this happen?

I had a similar situation with a guy who goes by something ( nhra ) or ( nhra ) something. I won a set of sun visors for a small amount. First would not answer E-mails and then when he did he tells me he set them on his tractor and accidently backed over them. I checked his history and he had told another guy that the items that he had won were stolen. The other victim left the guy a negative feedback so NHRA gave him one in return. Me not wanting a negative feedback I left him go without a feedback. Unfortunatly bad ebay members get by for fear of unwarrented negative feedback. Ebay should deal with this in some way.

watch out for "coily" on ebay. i was looking at some valve cover for my gto and i was bidding on them. he would actually send me insulting emails because i did not want to pay $110 for a set that was not worth more than $75. he would also end the auction saying that the items were damaged in the warehouse when in fact he had just told me that they were his "last" set. i notified ebay and they just did not care or take my complaint seriously. this happened with this guy a few times. finally i just blocked him from being able to send me emails .

It happened again this week. I was the only bidder on a compressor tank. The seller ended the auction early with no explination. Two days later the same tank is back up with the same photo. I guess there is no recourse, can't even post a negative feedback as it never ended and I would get one in return.

E-bay doesn't care. They are in it for the money and the only people that get hate mail from E-bay are the bidders if you pull your bids. They won't look out for anyone other then the postman and paypal.
but when your the hottest game in town, ya write your own rules. ************************************************** *************************** Build it fast, build it right, build a Pontiac. http://PontiacDude.cc |

IN ONE PERSPECTIVE, YOU GUYS SHOULD COUNT YOURSELF LUCKY. MY MOM HAD A PROB WITH SOME SCHMUCK ON EBAY AND HE HACKED HER COMPUTER AND ALMOST FRIED HER. HE INTRODUCED SEVERAL TROJANS TO HER SYSTEM SO SHE COULD NOT BID, THEREFORE NO HASSLE. THE REST IS A SHAME. I HAD A BAD DEAL WITH SOME SCHLEP UP IN ILLINOIS OVER A BAD PART. I EVEN TOLD TH'GUY AT 1 POINT THAT I WAS GONNA DRIVE UP THERE AND GET MY MONEY BACK IN BLOOD IF THATS WHAT IT TOOK. BUT, DISCRETION BEING THE BETTER PART OF VALOR TOLD ME THAT I SHOULDNT . SO, THE IDIOT GOT OVER ON ME. <SHRUG>

i dont know why y'all are complaining.try to see things from a nutral prospective.if a seller has to put a reserve on an auction, ebay gets richer.if a seller starts the bidding higher, ebay gets richer.i know there are alot of unscrupoulous sellers out there,i have been screwed many times myself.most sellers put their parts out there to sell them.so if somebody offers them a fair price for an item they should have the right to sell it.most ebay bidders want to aquire parts for next to nothing.if i pay 200.00 for a part i cant sell it for 9.99.and the more the seller has to pay ebay, the more he needs to make off the part.when you are looking at something you are interested it is best to call the seller and ask questions it will also give you a better idea of who you are dealing with.i am slightly biased towards the sellers point of view cause i am a seller and a hobbiest.i have had to pull auctions cause nobody was bidding the item up anywhere close to the amount i had invested in the part and i cant afford to lose money.can any of you afford to give away some of the parts you invested alot of your hard earned money on?some of the big guys can afford to take i hit,as for me,,,i have to work..

Ken, Post some negative feedback! It's the only thing the idiots understand. I checked his feedback out on ebay and it's all good? If I'm going to bid on an item, the feedback the seller has is what determines if I bid or not.

69 Firebirdman. You fail to see the point.
It's an auction. period. An Auction. You put something up for sale and take your chances. One more time for the hearing impaired. It's an auction....... not a store, not a warehouse, not a wholesaler. I take it your inform the "IRS" of your profits and losses, right? You seem to be trying to run it as a business, As your so worried about what you're going to make? You place something for sale. If you don't want to take the chance of not getting what you want. then don't place it for sale on E-BAY. Or Put it in the "For Sale" forums on the Internet. Or put a reserve on it and figure it into the equasion. If someone is so worried that they wont't get what they "think" they can get on e-bay, then I feel sorry for that person. So worried that they might miss that extra buck that could be made on E-bay that they won't sell it outright anywhere else. If your so worried about what E-bay is making then open your own auction site. Who the freak cares what e-bay makes. I only worry about what I make. But I guess if things are that tough for ya dude. there's always Welfare. Sorry, but when I bid on something and sometimes pay a little more then what I wanted too, I take my chances that your buddy isn't jacking up the price so it can sell at a higher price too. And What you think it's worth doesn't necessarily mean that's what it's worth to the public either. Takes two to do a deal. I just want the chance to bid. Watch my lips.......... it's an Auction. Funny, how E-bay will let a seller pull his product at any time, but if a bidder pulls his bid, after so many he's banned. A one way street. The reason I posted this was it wasn't one item I was bidding on. It was three that he pulled because I was getting a good deal. But who knows what another person in the last hour or even minutes might have run the final price up. That didn't even get a chance to happen. But getting 3 e-mails from e-bay saying the items were pulled and from the same seller. Is bogus dude. i even went back and looked at other Non pontiac items and some of them were pulled as well wayyyyyyyy below what they are normally going for or at current pricing. Ya ever look the the reasons seller can pull an item compared to what options a buyer has on E-bay? Sorry Dude, but right's right and wrong's wrong. I feel very strong about one way streets. One more point; I had a set of big car rally rims for sale and sold for $50.00 Got 14 e-mails on wanting them. I could have just told people that the one with the best offer got them. But I priced them and the first e-mail got them. He even told me that they go for $150.00 before he bought them. But I still sold them for $50.00 Would you have done that? ************************************************** *************************** Build it fast, build it right, build a Pontiac. http://PontiacDude.cc [This message was edited by PONTIAC DUDE on January 05, 2004 at 09:34 AM.] |

I agree with P. Dude.
I've sold various things on ebay. Made some , lost some. If I really have a minimum price I want, then I use the reserve prive. Yeah it cost, but that's my choice as a seller there. If it say's no reserve......... Then it should be No Reserve. I've had quite a few lost auctions there, where the seller suddenly discovers the item is damaged. Usually when the item being sold hasn't brought a very high price "Bye Bye Rice Boy"

You too huh?
Seems like a lot of stuff seems damaged in the last day of the sale, but wasn't noticed for the previous 6 days. ************************************************** *************************** Build it fast, build it right, build a Pontiac. http://PontiacDude.cc |

I'll end an auction early. Done it before, and I'll do it again. But, before you flip out, I'll tell you why.....
If someone e-mails me and asks me what it will take to end the auction "now", here is what I do. First, I tell them a price that is higher than what I wanted and also higher than what I believe the high bid will be. Then, I tell them I will only end the auction when the check arrives. If they are willing to pay the price, plus get the $ to me before the auction ends, then I sell to them. That's the only time I do it. Yes, its an auction, yes, I could (and frequently do) put it up for sale in other spots that are free, but lets face it, if I had to sell Pontiac parts on any Pontiac BB, I would still have every part I started with! No one here wants to spend a dime! E-bay brings in the serious buyers that are willing to spend. That's why I advertise there and that's why I will continue to. Nothing is stopping any of you from asking the seller to end the auction early, you just don't want to pay him to do it!!!!!!!!!!!! Fist fulla bullets and a chest fulla teflon.... -Biggee Smalls |

I would keep on bidding it up and when you do win, offer to pay him what you were willing to pay the first time he jerked it out from under you.
