I Just put my 455 4 speed back in the car. Put the clutch linkage back on with the new return springs, new clutch, throughout bearing, clutch rod, new clutch arm?
Any way when I got it all adjusted and pushed on it it really felt soft, Mind you I have not driven this car before so I have nothing to relate to it. I dont feel any real pressure when depressing the pedel. So how much resistance should there be in a 69 goat with a saginaw 4 speed? I think it is soft enough to push in with my hand. Medic |

What kind of clutch are you running? My new Centerforce is pretty easy, but don't think I could disengage it with my hand. Sounds like you have too much lash in the pedal. Did you adjust the lash with the pedal up against the stop? Are you sure the fork is properly engaging the T.O. bearing?(i.e. fork springinside the lip of the T.O. bearing?) Is the fork properly engaging the pivot ball on the bell housing? Are the flywheel & pressure plate housing bolts tight?

If you can't push the clutch in by hand with a centerforce clutch, something is wrong. Either you need to hit the gym, or your return spring was replaced with a monster. Very light pedal pressure. Awesome clamping force.

OK, OK, I know I need to hit the gym - but I never thought to try & push in the clutch by hand. I just went out there & tried it - and I can easily push it in by hand. WariarGTO is correct, the CF clutch has incredibly light pedal pressure compared to the other HD clutches out there.
