Can somebody maybe help me out. Just got my car back from the body shop today, well here is the story. Went down at 4pm to get the car and it wouldent start. So they threw it on the charger, came back at 8pm started right up, drove it out of the shop turned it off, talked to the owner for about 10 mins, got back in the car and started right up and drove it to my house which is about a 15 min drive or aprox 3 miles. Get to my house turn it off, go inside for about 5 mins come back out to start it, and it was dead. Went to jump it and i put the cables on backwards and lots of sparks flew. Got a diffrent set of cables, could tell it was drawing power, my lights still worked but it would not start. Pushed started the car drove it for about 45 mins brought it home, turned it off. went to start it and it fired up though semi rough, turned it off again went to start it and it fired right up. Drove to the gas station put gas in, came out and she started up but not great but not bad. Now my question is why did it not start then all of a sudden be able to start. Is the battery maybe bad, i just got it last year, could it be the starter? I should mention that last year i had problems with my battery and my Neg battery cable, and the car made the same clicking noise when i tried to start it, so i dont think its the starter, but my friend does. Anybody have any ideas.

It sounds like a bad/loose connection. Could be on either the positive or the ground. Check them all.

Replace both battery cables. They may look good on the ends, but there is probably corrsion on the inside. Also clean the connections on both ends.
