I have a 64 convertible and want to get some help. I am new to doing the body stuff so please bare with me if these seem like stupid questions.
1. the chrome molding that runs along the bottom of the car should it stay or come off? I have seen it both ways and wanted to know if it hurts it's vaulue if it is left off. 2. How do you put this trim back on the car with out scratching the new paint job. |

Is there a special tool to put the rocker panel chrome back on?
If I leave it off will it hurt the vaule of the car? |

Installing the rocker trim isn't all that difficult. You pretty much hang the top of the moulding on the clips and push downward to flex the moulding onto the bottom of the clips.
You can protect the paint by using a strip of thin plastic shim material or thin cardboard under the bottom of the clips. Honestly, these cars look ugly without the rocker trim in place. Yes, it will reduce the value to anyone who knows anything about these cars. Put it on yourself or pay an experienced bodyman to do the job.
