OK, I'm thinking of a new carrier for my '71 10-bolt.
Who's got the best prices for Auburns or Eatons? Which one is better?

Jeg's has Auburn units for $350, I,m sure Summit is within a nickle of that. Find a reputable shop to set it up. Expect to pay $150 to $250 for the job.

I've heard good things and bad about Eaton. That's why I'm leaning towards an Auburn. What do you guys think?

I installed the Eaton unit and Mosler Axles. Never have had any trouble, even when i made some hard passes on slicks, I,m not saying it is bullit proof. But it has proved to be a great Street/strip set-up for me

You won't find Auburn from Sumitt and Jegs is the cheapest that I had seen bar none. I searched all sorts of suppliers and Jegs was the cheapest. It was a couple of months ago $329, but now its $349.

If I have a 2.73 open rear now and I buy the posi unit, gears and install as a kit can I convert my rear to a 3.23 or 3.55 or is there more involved?

Thanks a bunch, guys. I've heard of Tom's from someone else. The name Zuess triggers something in my memory. He liked them.
BJ, I believe there are no wierd modifications necessary if you buy a carrier and gears. They're all made to work together. Another question: Is OEM brand greas any good? How about Precision brand gears?
