Hey Trev,
Are those Alston subframe connectors bolt in or weld in? Also could you post where you got them and maybe the catalog numbers? I've been on the look-out for a set that doen't hang too low, and those look pretty good.
Thanks

I put those on my 74 this summer, they fit good and tight against the floor pan, almost a little to tight under one part of the seat. Heres the best shot I got right now. The only problem with them was the front upper holes line up with the body mount, so I drilled new ones in the connectors.

I see how they fit now! My Moroso's seesawed over the floor pan until I resected and rewelded them. They do hang down alot more.

Skip, I actually had to dent one of those cross members under the seats to fit. You can barely see it in the picture. Use a round Sledge, hated to do it, but I already drilled holes in the frame, so what the Heck

I bought direct from Alston. Summit doesn't have them. They can be bolted in, or welded in. I will have to modify the front end to suit the Wayne Due Subframe. I am currently waiting for my subframe bushings to arrive (Global West) then I will start my installation. The plan is to cut and weld them to the subframe, and temporarily bolt them to the frame rails. That way I can remove the subframe for final painting and assembly, while the body goes off to be painted. Then when the whole assembly goes back together, I can weld the rear ends to the frame.

When I bought the Moroso's they were about the only choice.Pretty cheesy really The Global products are all top notch. Trve they do have lowering subframe bushings but they shoved the Shker up too high for me So I went with standard height, got room for a small carb spacer that way.

The race Camaro that's geting the Pontiac motor in my TA will be using the Herb Adams spherical bushings in the lowers(had them 20 years) and his weld in uppers to finally use. I had years ago gotten some circle track press in uppers and turned teh ID in a lathe to use the Adams Nyliner and inner sleexe with no welding.

You should be able to fit the 315/35/17 tires on the back without any problems. I am running these on 17x11 torque thrust II's and am not having any issues. Also are you close to marysville as I am only about 20 min. away and would love to check out that subframe if that is possible.

Post a pic of those 315s. I want to get as close to a 27" diameter tire as possible. 315s probably only measure out at just over 25" diameter (calculate out to be 25.68"). Maybe you could measure yours? Where is Marysville?

Trev, I have the 315/35/17's that you saw. They are 25.6 The people that wanted more height and a little less width went with the 285/17's.

Marysville is just west and south of Tallahassee. It's about 400 miles from here, or two hours in your car, when it's done.

You mentioned that you bought the sub frame in marysville, wa. I live about 20 min from wayne's chasis shop. I think I will give him a call and stop by. Heres a pic of the wheels. The car was run on this combo before I took it apart for a new engine combo and suspension. I just went out and measured and got 26" with the nitto ddrag radials.

Does anyone know if using the c4 suspension is any different that putting on the globalwest upper and lower control arms with the coil overs? They look like a similr set up.

Does Globalwest even make lower control arms for 2nd gens? I have their uppers but thought they only made lowers for 67-69s.

They just came out with them. I don't have the price in front of me but I think they are 700.00 for the pair with the del alum's.

Well that sucks, cuz I just installed my control arms with new poly bushings last month. Oh well...maybe I'll upgrade in a couple of months.

As I suspected, it looks like those 315s are sticking out the side. I am trying to avoid that, and I am not mini tubbing my car.

One major advantage to me of using an aftermarket subframe is that I get rack and pinion steering. I looked at the Martz setup, but decided that I prefered Waynes. I bought a used Corvette front suspension for $350 on ebay. The Global West arms are great if you are not changing subframe. Rack and pinion will be almost impossible with a stock subframe.

I also feel that with Waynes experience, I will get a well designed package that will work together, be rebuildable in the long run and has significant weight savings over stock.

The 315's sit flush with the outside of the body they don't stick out and when the car is down on the ground it fills up the wheel well perfectly. I am jealous that you have one of those sub frames that thing is sweet.

What is the backspacing (or offset) on those 17x11s?
