Need some help choosing a good Cam
My Plans are to keep the motor in lower RPM range, do to stock Rod Bolts, i dont really know there limit.

400ci w/ compression somewhere just over 8.1:1
th350
3.08 Rear, which i plan to bump up to 3.23 or little higher
P295/50R15 Tires

the cam i was thinking of getting is the Crane Powermax H-272-2 which has a Adv of 272/284

Any suggestions are greatly apreciated!!

I have that cam in my 400. It has #48 heads, with somewhat more compression than yours though. Nearly smooth idle and good vacuum for power stuff.

Look at a Comp XE262, works good w/low compression, good idle, no flat spots in power up to 4800rpm, works good in my 79 TA 400 4spd, 3.23.
