I'm very new so I'll make my introduction. I have a factory original 1975 Trans Am. It is one of the 857 L75 455-HO cars. Its Cameo White, with standard black interior. Non A/C car with no power options. Actually I ordered PHS docs for the car with the Window sticker. The only options that were ordered were the 455-HO package, AM radio, Tilt Wheel, Center Console, Hood Bird, and Soft Ray Glass. The original owner said he pretty much ordered just the "go fast goodies"
1. I need the door panel emblem for the passenger side. It is the "Firebird" script emblem and is not the round emblem with the bird in the middle like on the later models nor is it like the "Firebird" emblem like the 60's cars. I can't seem to find this anywhere. Paddock and NPD don't have them and have never heard of it being used. I don't think Year One has one either. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? 2. I need the plastic clip wire loom for the ignition wires on the passenger side bank. It sits on top of the metal bracket and clips over the 4 wires to hold them in place. That clip is broken and I'd like to replace it with an original piece as well, but again I can't find one. Anyone? Here is a pic of my car at one of last years shows. This was at a show 2 years ago. Yeah I have a Mustang too Anyhow, what do you think? Can anyone help me with those parts I need? |

I don't think that Firebird script emblem is original. I've never seen that on ANY 2nd-gen Firebird.
The ingnition wire clip you should be able to find in the junkyard. It was a standard GM part. It's possible it might still be available from GM.

I believe I've got the 2 Firebird emblems... I've got a '75 that received the 81 Recaro Pace Car interior, and I'm pretty sure I've got the correct emblems. Email me.

I've seen the Firebird script before in the mid 2nd gen t/a's but I just havn't had any luck finding re productions of it.
Unfortunately I have scoured all the junkyards locally for stuff from 2nd gen Firebirds.... All the wire looms are either broken, like mine, or missing. I'll keep looking though. Rodent habitat, Thats sweet you have one of these. Buccaneer Red is a great color, I've never seen Stellar Blue 455 car though.... Anyhow to answer your question on the Trans/Am decal and Emblem. Yes the Nose "Bird" is original, and no longer has any red (Faded) I just installed a new repro 2 nights ago. The Decal though can be a mystery and I'm not even sure I know exactly how they went from 74-76. My understanding is this: 1974 models did not have the decal weather the large hood bird was ordered or not. 1975 models didn't have the decal if the WW7 large hood bird was left off the option list and when WW7 was ordered, the decal was placed on the front grill. In 1976 I don't think it mattered, I think they all had the front decal but I've never seen a '76 without the WW7 option so I'm not sure on that one. Also, there are not suppose to be any emblems on the c-pillar, this did not come out until the 1976 model. |

Mine has the ww7 large bird but no grill decal.Something else I wanted to know is if yours has the original side splitter pipes and what kind of angle they stick out the side. This was the 1st year for these (with the 455 only)and I had read somewhere that these stuck out more to the side than the years that followed.

Oh thats interesting, is your paint original or has yours been re-painted once? On the spitters I'm not entirely sure, see my car had to have the exhaust replaced some time ago. It now has complete Aluminized mandrel bent exhaust, but it isn't positioned correctly. My splitters are at a slight angle yes but only about 3/4" of them are showing. I think that the splitters are suppose to be about 2.5-3" long total, but only about 2.25" showing and angled out.
These look correct to me: I've been looking around now at '75 T/A's cause you had me curious about the decal... I'm not sure they were there or not. I've seen about 12 photos of 75's and only 2 have them. Of course its hard to say if they were placed there during a re-paint or not? I'm going to see if I can find a decal placement sheet for the '75 |

Welcome to PY
Yes they did have the "Firebird" name on the door panel. One thing that is not orignal on yours is the "Trans Am" name on the header panel, looks like the car has been repainted and they put on the '76 decal kit, my kit from PG came with that decal too, it wasnt used till '76. BTW very nice car.

BTW very nice car. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Thats probably correct, also I know that the previous owner opted to have the black/charcoal/red package placed back on the car, wich is the Sterling Silver equipment, whereas the white car was to come with the blue package. I get complements on the change though. It really does go well with the black interior. Besides that most people don't know its not correct and they really don't know that decal on the header panel is not suppose to be there. 1 question about decals...... In 1975 they were equipped with 455-HO shaker callouts, but in 1976 didn't they just say 455? |

76s engine shaker call outs just say 455.I didnt think the red decals were correct but I didnt want to pick your car apart it does look good with the red.I just looked at a 76 455 last week for a possible parts car but it was just too rusty.

I've seen that color combo before on a white TA, not sure as to what options they had. It does look nice. I've seen the blue decals on a silver TA too.

Blue on Silver, I've never seen, but there aren't many good condition T/A's left un UT. Ours are about the only ones I've ever seen at the local shows.
Speaking of shows, last weekend I entered the first show for the summer and took 1st place in 70's stock. There were quite a few nice cars in the class, many are previous winners, 1970 Chevelle SS 396, 1971 Mach-1 351, 1978 L82 Corvette just to name a few. Anyhow, that was the first time in the last 4 years that my name was called for 1st place. |
