Just got my 67 GTO engine rebuilt not too long ago from a place, and the rear main seal started to leak within just a 100 miles or so. I took it back to the shop and they said that they will fix it by a different method that does not require the engine to be lifted out. I thought that was the only way to do it correctly. Is there another metheod or are these guys trying to save themselves some time and do it another half-assed way? Thanks.

I order to get the pan off they have to pull the motor. Not pulling the motor just makes it more difficult. I don't see how they can do it right otherwise.

Ha! They will probably hook a vacuum to the top end and put some gasket seal, or silicone where the leak is. It will cause the air to suck where the leak is and pull some of the goo inside to slow the leak. I would definitly find out how they plan on fixing it.
My other life has meaning....

If they have a way to install the gasket without pulling the motor,
