OK guys I need some help here. When I drive my '64 Goat at nite with the headlights on, I smell a rubber-burning smell and hear a rapping noise from under the hood. If I turn the light off, it all stops. Any ideas? This one has me confused. Thanks fellas.

Check the voltage regulator on the firewall, could be over charging with the load from the headlites. Also with the car parked in the dark, car in neutral, headlites on, open the hood and see if you can localize the noise and smell. It could also be a combination of the belt and voltage regulator. Maybe the alternator is draging with the load on.

Depending on what options you have and what has been modified over the years look at yor alternator or voltage regulator,
Jughead has a good way of checking if your e-brake is in working order, otherwise dont try that byyourself Ive heard of to many horror stories trying these things alone !!! |
