What are my options for mounting a small single wire alternator down low next to the fuel pump block off? I noticed JBP has a kit but it's kinda pricey and it wasn't clear that it would put the alternator in that location. Bracket race application only.

Thanks
Steve

Are you trying to clear an electric water pump? Spotts sells a reproduction of an OEM pontiac alt bracket that mounts the alt low enough for that purpose. It's a nice piece, and mounts the alt securely.

I have a Mezier water pump so I don't have an interference issue. I currently have a small Shogun unit with the pulley about the same height as the fuel pump block off. I need more current so I'm planning to move up to one of the mini 1 wire units but I want to keep the same location. It uses a short belt and its down low out of the way. I haven't seen a pic of the Butler kit but it looks like most of the other options mount the alternator higher than I was hoping for. I'd like to mount it where Wade (BOP) has his vacuum pump. Looks like I will need to buy the alternator and fab something unless I'm missing something ... Thanks!

MikeB, is that bracket from Spotts how you received it? In the pic it looks a little on the rough side? Have any other pics of it from a different angle? It looks like it works fine but from the pic it kinda looks like it needs some polishing or smothing of the edges.

Wish I had a picture of mine I could post. I drilled out the threads in the aldronator used a longer bolt and mounted it to the lower RH water pump bolt hole with a spacer to align it to the front of the pulley. Them made a bracket out of 1/4" aluminum for mounting the other end to the cylinder head (with a longer spacer). Just bolted a carboard template to the head and stuck a marker thru the aldronator hole for the radius. Trimmed the rest later. Maybe I can find a picture. I made this 8-10 yeads ago and was told to market it.

jdw_poncho - that pic is a little misleading but yes the bracket could probably use a little cleaning up of sharp edges and the like. Paul has both a steel and an aluminum bracket; mine is the aluminum. I was in a hurry to get the car ready for a race so I just slapped it on there right out of the box.

No motor plate ... looks like it works well. I did something similar to Chad's setup to mount my Shogun using aluminum "angle iron", some aluminum plate and some spacers.
