in a 74 g/p what's involved in swapping out a plain dash [no guages] to a factory tach with guages dash. are there a couple of wires to swap like in the 71-2 cars or does the whole harness need changed?
i have the tach dash and the aux tach harness. i used to know this but it's been too long and i don't remember anymore. thanks for any info, mike

Mike, when I switched mine out, I was told the complete harness. What a mess. Lights and wipers wouldnt work. Finally got lights working by matching wire locations in the firewall box. I used 75 guages for my 77. Had wipers working but not now. They wont shut off. Have tried 2 switches and 2 motors. Still same, just keep clicking. I think I may have been able to just wire the tach and new sending units. Everything else works. Good Luck.

your wipers not parking is a ground issue. on that gen of chevy truck it's the yellow wire.
if the cars are like the trucks 77 was the yr the harness changed. i have a 74 guage cluster with the tach and was hoping someone else had done this. i have the 74 guage harness but it's been hacked over the yrs. thanks, mike

Mine came out of a Grand Am, I have 77 GP, and I just unplugged my old harness and plugged the new one in. All the gauges worked except the tach. still haven't been able to figure that out.
