All the work you did to fit those wheels & tires was worth it. You have perfected the stance of the GTO. Great job. Look forward to seeing it finished.

Tom,
Time to enter the RSE competition! Hold up that mighty Pontiac name. I would sure love to see that, and I'll bet others would too. Man, it's been a while in the making but it sure has been worth it. Congrats again!! John

Tom, did you add an extra crossmember to the section where the driveshaft loop goes? It looks like you made another section which exactly mimics the tunnel contour. If so, WOW!
On the torsion bar setup, did you fab that yourself? If so, where in the world did you learn how? Are there and good reference materials out there for designing suspensions? Your car is clearly a stand alone in the world of hobbyist cars. That thing is a frigging rolling masterpiece of technology. ____________________________________ Much love out to my Peeps

The driveshaft hoop was an easy one. There was already a brace running across the floor and hugging the tunnel. I found a .250" thick round piece of steel that fit in there perfectly (its in the Jegs catalog for like 10 bucks). Looked very clean. Since I had to make a spacer/adapter for the trans mount on the Chrysler 4 speed anyway, I made it the thickness necessary to center the driveshaft output shaft in the hoop.
The torsion bar setup is the new trunk mount setup from Dick Miller that has the down bars that connect (with heim's) to the rear spring mounts on the rearend. Just have to figure out where to mount it (mines on the roll cage down bars in the trunk, and the whole thing will unbolt for removal) and get it the correct width (it comes fairly wide so there is plenty of material). Also has plastic bushings you can grease for a smooth quiet operation. You can seal the holes in the trunk floor with a shifter boot/ring for a round shifter. |

I'm drooling as I write this.
Your GTO is certainly "road worthy." Now you just have to find a road that's truly "goat-worthy." Really, your GTO is one of the finest looking I've seen in a while. 69GPModJ Moderation in everything--including moderation. WC Fields.
