Ok, here is the deal. Went and looked at a pair of motors this morning, one a 400 and the other a 455. Just got home from looking at a 1987 GTA Hardtop with some older 350 chevy smallblock. Now obviously what I want to do is put the 455 in the GTA. What all is involved with making this swap? I think Id have one sick ass car on my hands. Help, quick, both the car and the motor are advertised in local papers.. I bet I can get the car cheap and the 455 is a longblock with a TH400 hooked to it. I think Id probably order the adapter from Jeg's and keep the 700R4 though.

www.chiefmanyhorses.com has kits to install the Pontiac motor in the 3rd gen. Rear end and tranny might not last long behind them though.

Yeah, I kinda wondered about that. Good thing about being in South Florida is there is a plethora of tranny shops selling beefed up 700R4s cheap.

Look at a 200-4R trans. Will bolt directly to a Pontiac with no adapters, and can be built to be bulletproof.
