i am working on my dads 64 GTO, and i just put the tri power back on it. there was an edelbrock 4bbl put on, when the engine got rebuilt a few years ago. the new distributor that got put on though has vaccuum advance that went into the 4bbl, but it doesn't have anywhere to go on the 3x2's. the tranny is a 4 speed, and i read that you don't need the advance with synchromesh trannys. so my question is, can we just let the hose hang there? or does something else need to be done?
-this is my first time restoring a car, so i'm kind of a newbie in the automotive world. any help would be great. thank you. -aaron |

There should be a vacuum port or a spot to put one on the back of the base of the center carb. Yes you should hook it up, saves gas.

I agree. Has nothing to do with trannies. Always use vacuum advance for a street car.

okay. i have looked all over the manifold and the carbs, especially the center, and can't find any place for the hose. there is a hole under the choke, but its blocked off by a copper cylinder, and i don't see any nipples to but it on. it's probably something really simple that i'm overlooking, but i'm lost. does someone have picture of this? nothing i've looked at has been clear enough to see where this goes.

Aaron,
Here is a rear view of the middle carb from a '66 tripower showing the 2 vacuum ports. The upper/short hose goes to the choke, the lower hose from the throttle plate goes to the distributor vacuum advance. Hope this helps. Tim |

Aaron,
Here is a rear view pic of the middle carb from a '66 tripower showing the vacuum ports. The upper port with the short hose goes to the choke. The lower port with the longer hose goes to the distributor vacuum advance. Hope this helps Tim |

i finally found it. i couldn't see it because there was a screw in the hole. i didn't think that was it. i need to be a little more openminded... thank u guys for your help. i really appreciate it.
