Larry, no disrespect. However, IMO to run 7's in the 1/4 (more than once, remain safe, legal etc.) you can expect to double that figure, or more!

Go with the car with the 400. The 403 is an Oldsmobile motor.

Well the guy is selling both together. For $3500 i was thinking about doing one as a daily driver ans the other one as a race car. I dont know if he would sell them individually to me or not. Why is the olds hard to get to work? I was going to see if i could find a 455 anywhere also to mayeb sweap out i dont know yet i need the car first i geuss.

I'm running 7.60's 1/8th with a very mild and somewhat mismatched combo.
I've got a .030 over 455 with home tailgate ported (literally!) #62 heads. Comp 280 cam, stock rocker arms. Stock crank & rods with good rod bolts & TRW flattops, balanced. Torker 1 intake, holley 750DP, and hedman 1 3/4 headers going into a PY 3 inch X pipe system. Rear gears are (well, were) 4.10's with a 29.5 inch slick. 3400 stall JW converter. I also took weight off the car (79 T/A, former 403 car) - fiberglass hood, AC & heater delete, draglites, etc. With a cam, converter & rear gear change dragsim is predicting low 7's. |

Jennifer, I know you meant 1/8. However, I was responding to Larry's post regarding the respective price to achieve 1/8 and 1/4.
I know a guy that is knocking on the 7 second door (1/4) and it takes money, money and more money!

Last time I ran down there was around 1990. I think you can easily achieve your low 7 second goal without a lot of exotic parts. |
