Hello guys, and sorry for the dumb question, i took my starter out a few days ago to go and get a new one , now that i got it i dont remember where hte extra wires went, i know the battery goes to the middle terminal but i got two more wires a black one and a red. Do they go on to the S terminal or the R terminal? Thanks

The 'S' terminal is for Solenoid and the ignition switch wire goes on that. The 'R' is for relay and that usually goes to send full 12 volts to the coil during cranking. Usually there is a purple wire on the 'S' terminal, and usually there is a red wire with a bigger end on it that goes on the large post with the battery cable to supply main power to the car accessories. Not all cars use the 'R' terminal. Is it possible the black wire is really a dirty purple?
