Nice to hear Kauffman is picking up the ball and going with the IA block deal.

How about some killer heads now, maybe a canted valve deal. The IA blocks can handle the offset push rod angles. We need a poncho head that can make 1000+ hp NA. I know Bruce (Machie spelling? sorry) and maybe a few other are doing this, but its time to even the playing field with the C, F, M guys.

Anybody got the cash?

Rob,
We are always interested in building new products. Please give me some details as to how many you would like to build? Is this a private label head you will market? What application will it be designed for? Will you need any component parts manufactured as well? Is there a particular sample you would like to duplicate?
Please give me as much info as you can and I would be happy to quote a price and delivery date.

Regards,
Alan Johnson

Canted Valve, RAV, or Hemi is the next Pontiac cylinder head improvement.

I wonder what they would charge me for a set on heads with a "Weber IDA carb" bore spacing with
the centerline of the intake ports? Kind of like
a "WEBER SB2/Pontiac Ram Air 4"!

Would make a great head for a street rod with a "d" port exhaust!

Wow Tom that would be a sweet ride. Webers are nice carbs. Dad has an E-Type Jaguar and has always talked about putting dual choke webers on it. I just think they look cool.

No, he's saying they've made some billet heads that flow great numbers. Mellot has a set on his car. If memory serves he was running 7-teens at Norwalk.

For a race application, I agree that a canted valve or Hemi arrangement is the next logical step.

Supergas I'm trying ...a little anyway! Talked with CNblocks.com about the proper block for the heads, and Some guys in England about screws, would have to get someone to make the supercharger cases. RCD the gear-drive and front motor accessories; fuel, mag, bearing support. Pretty fun to research the deal. I have the phone numbers but not the cash to make it happen!

If you has some kind of selenoid or hydraulic openers it could be interesting. I'm not real big on 4 valve heads and consider a dohc a waste of time.

Forget all this canted and hemi, etc. Just design a head with egaul port spacing and higher port configuration and do the math on valve size to flow in the 475+ @ 700 range. We already have a 400/425 cfm head.
Then make a 4 bbl cast manifold to boot of course with the Nitrous/EFI bosses included. All other 2-4 set ups can go the sheet metal gimic.

Think outside the box. Your talking High end use for a limited market anyway. There are current heads that will work for 90% of the racers and streeter's now. Look at the Ford and SB-2 thinking.

If I want a Pontiac looking head at this stage......I'll stick to Cast iron. You can always Cast Pontiac on the exhaust rumners or the side. LOL.

Where's the 425 head? Last I checked, Gaydosh's heads were right at 400 (actually just below it). DCI's heads are unproven to this point. Is anybody running them?

Make a 475 cfm head? Are there any heads out there now with a similar designed chamber and the same valve angle as the Pontiac that are flowing 475?

I know of one on the table that will flow 420 cfm. I think the DCI one will flow some decent numbers.

Dude is right. Make a traditional head that will flow big numbers. Get a block that will get us a 4.5" bore and then we'll have the BB Chevy camp right where we want them.

I'm like heaven, everybody wanna get to me.........

Super Chefs will flow 440 pretty easy spending a month at the flow bench. Problem is that 2.450 valve is at the cylinder bore wall and opens toward the wall. We're not getting hp bonuses for the cfm flowed. Equal port spacing isn't a bad idea, would get rid of the side by side exaust ports. IEIEIEIE EIIEEIIE

What do the lastest Mopar nail head design flow with the big mopar bore? I am thinking with Rob with the max cly bore available to ponchos shrouding will limit power potential. To my knowledge we do not have a block that will go 4.5+ Goatman, so quit wishing.

My opinion if you are starting with a clean sheet of paper with Kaufmann capabilities.

Make the head like a SB2 as far as the port
layout.

Make the exhaust port flange vertical so that you
can use the head for a variety of chassis and then
build headers correctly. Should have a raised exhaust port design and minimum of a 2.3 intake and a 1.9 exhaust valve.

Make the Intake port location like the SB2 or Ford head with a Dart Big Chief style intake port.
Use a 2.3 intake valve minimum.

My friend "Gordy" did just this same dead over 10
years ago and got a 450 intake head and 70% exhaust port (but the head was solid)He used a IV chamber which I would not use today and 2.19/ 1.77
valves.

He did the head on a cnc machine.

No reason why Kaufmann with their equipment can't
build a 450-470 head for a large pontiac.
