I am changing my multi leaf springs to the caltracs split monos. What have you guys that run the split monos use to make up the difference in the fewer springs??i dont want to switch to the ford 9 inch pads. Should i use the rubber pads that sandwich the springs??

The axle sits on top of the spring, so why are you concerned about having to "make up" for fewer leaves? If the mono's have the correct rating, ride height will not be effected. Hot Rod would be the one to ask about perch width, however.

Calvert recommends eliminating the rubber that sits in between the perch and the spring, I am not sure about the one that goes below the spring. What I did was get a one inch lowering block at my local parts store an custom ground them down and set my pinion angle at the same time by grinding the front thinner, by the time I was done the blocks were pretty thin but still strong and I reused the rubber bottom portion until I get some new ones that are urethane from summit.

Measure the differance and make a steel plate to compensate for it.

I removed the GM perch and installed Ford 9 inch spring perchs. This is what John Calvert recommended to me.

i ended up using a realy thick steel plate on bottom of the leaf spring and a 2 degree shim on top.
