Does anybody make a 235/70-14 or a 235/75-14.
I need a large 14" tire for my 64 Bonneville with 8-bolts.
I'd like to keep the 14"s for now.

Anything wider than at 225 on a 14" rim will need to be 60 series or lower profile not a 70/75 series. The wider you go, you need to lower the aspect ratio.
You can go as wide as 235/60/14 or 245/60/14

Failed to mention, depending on the width of the rim, the 245's may be to wide. If 6-7" wide, would not go larger than the 235's.

Just to add to the thread. I just re-did my Rally II's and put new tires on them. I have 14x6 on the fronts and 14x7 on the back. I put 235/60 on the fronts with 245/60 on the back. The tires I used were BF T/A's. Looks great with some meat to them but not too much

While 235/245/60's may be fine for GTO's, the Bonneville originally came with 8.50x14" bias ply tires that were around 28" tall.

The 60 series tires are only 26.1 and 26.6" tall respectively.

For proper look and size for that '64 Bonneville, Coker makes a 235/75/14 that is 27.87" tall.

This tire is designed to be used on a 6 - 9" rim.

The 235/75/14 is exactly the size you want.

There may be other sources as well, but this size does exist.

pittsburgh 64 - Sounds like my situation exactly. I am currently in the hunt for some 15 X 7 but may end up going Enzo's route if it turns out to be too expensive.

To give you a heads up I re-did my rims myself with the exception of having them blasted ($48). Paint & Primer was about $60. The tires and mounting were about $420.00. I wanted to go the 15 route but that would have tacked on another 200 bucks I bet.

Do you remember the color codes you used? and can you elaborate on your proceedure as to how you went about it? if you used any masking kits and such.

I will grab the codes off the cans tonight when I get home for you.

The process was actually quite simple.
1. Have them blasted and be sure you clean the hell out of them (there is always some media left over)

2. Then the primer. I primered everything even the inside with 2 coats.

3. Backside of the rim was painted a gray and at this time I also painted the inside of the rim (where the tire hides the rim) 3 coats

4. Then the bright silver went on about 3 coats mainly around the spokes and outer rim.

5. used the masking kit from PY and taped off the rest of what needed to be taped. From what I have read you are NOT supposed to mask off the holes in the rims and there is supposed to be overspray behind the rim (go figure)

6. Painted the dark gray 3 coats and removed the tape and mask kit b4 the paint got too dry.

7. Clear Coat 3 coats.

Alright here are the codes. (sorry for the delay)

I used Dupli-Color Truck,Van & SUV Spray Paint (I know that the paint guy wanted $140 for the correct paint put in a spray can & I got the primer and paint for about $60)

T183 Gray (Dark Gray)
T191 Ultra Silver Metallic
T125 Clear Top Coat

The light gray (almost has a greenish tint to it) I could not find the number for it but it is real close to Ford Dove Gray.

re: 14 " tires, forget coker..too expensive, go to Tirerack.com, search site..it givies reviews of hundreds of tires by the actual users/buyers...i bought 225 X14 Yokohamas on my 14X7 rims, delivered to my porch in three days for $80 per tire...50,000 guarantee...can't beat that!!!

Pittsburgh64, I did the same as you. I searched everywhere, the only company I could find with a 235/75r14 is Coker. I figured for what they wanted for the tires, I could get the 15" wheels. Then I'd have my choice of tires. Still waiting to have the extra $600 for the 15" wheels!
The 15" wheels work fine with the 8-lugs. The companies I've talked to actually use the centers out of OE 14" 8-lug wheels, then weld them into 15" outers.

Thanks Pittsburgh64, but I'm going to have to live with the 14's for now. Like you, to much output so far this year! And now someone decided to give my quarter panel a love tap when I parked at a grocery store! More time and $$!!
