////11.99 - 10.00, SFI spec. 3.2A/1 approved race jacket required, and gloves in open body cars...///..9.99 - 7.50 SFI spec. 3.2A/5 jacket and pants, and 3.3/1 gloves and SFI 3.3 neck collar..//..9.99 - 7.50 SFI spec. 3.2A/15 jacket, pants, and gloves and boots spec. 3.2A/5, and SFI3.3 neck collar, in open bodied front engine and bodied car with no firewall. Tip:9.99 and quicker, it seemed I could walk the staging lanes before eliminations and find 2 - 3 bodied car drivers with no gloves, no neck collar and in some instances no pants! I've found racers especially open cars 11.99 - 10.00 with no gloves. et al. et al. et al....Safety 1st...

Almost forgot everybody else; 12.00 and slower. Shorts, barelegs, tank tops, or bare torsos, prohibited, when driving in competition. Snell or SFI approved helmet at 13.99 and quicker.

I think you need a helmet at 14.99 if you have a convertible or T-tops.

I was wondering when someone would bring up convertibles. Snell 98 or newer helmet NOT required in the 14's for conv. or T-tops. There are a few rules pertaining to convertibles. I'll do a special post on convertibles later today. Bartman; Thank you for bringing up convertibles. The rules you quote here are probably track rules for conv. and T-tops because these rules are hard to find in the book, but they are readily available on the last page of NHRA rulebook on the quick reference chart found there. Local NHRA tracks may make their own rules for safer operation than the rulebook requires. What they can't do is make rules below NHRA miniums... ie. No helmet when racing, for an example. When NHRA would find this out the track would lose their NHRA member track status...Safety 1st.. .
