Does anyone know if a '68 pontiac Lemans remote mirror is the same as a '68 Firebird remote mirror? I may be trying to hard to get this bird back on the road exact but ya gotta do what makes you dream.

According to my chevrolet parts interchange manual. A 68 Camaro can also use 68-70 full size chevy and 68-72 Chevelle ones. I realize that those are all chevy vehicles however I don't know of any Pontiac interchange manual, and since the similarites are extreme I would venture to guess that the 68 Lemans remote mirrors will work
on your 68 Firebird as well.

Thanks Mr. Junkcollector. I'm going to get him to send it to me today. It's an "origingal" $75 question. -- I'll let you know. jw

The 68 Firebird remote mirror is the same as several Chevy mirrors. There are two types of bird mirrors. The most common one is a rectangular shaped mirror with a pointed base. The second is a round mirror that is very similar to a 65-68 "rest of Pontiac" mirror." The only difference is the toggle switch located on the door panel. The Firebird is more of a round knob, whereas the rest of Pontiac uses one that has rings engraved in it. The Lemans mirror will fit and function fine, but if you are doing a 100 point show car, you might want to check with the Chevy guys.
