I have a 78 TA also. Currently running a .030 over 400, CC 270 cam, RA3 exhaust with 4speed and 3.23 gears.Ran best of 14.7 @94mph-2.8 60' time last season. No traction with the standard. This winter I am refitting it with a 455 and TH400. Hope for better track results if I can get it to stick.

I have a 79 T/A w/301 auto. I've re-done most of the interior now and almost ready to start on the '74 400 I've got on the engine stand. Anybody know if the front springs are rated the same for the two engines? After the driveline is what I want it to be it will be off to the body shop. Car is blk w/camel interior. 11-04-01 well i've been busy. she now has a 400, bwst10 4-spd, full ws-6 suspension, numerous options added-on and getting ready for paint(black of course)

Hey Trevor,
How hard was it to get the six speed in there? ------------------ The Pontiac Trans Am Page |

I have to describe a "useta have". It was a '78 Gold Special Edition, W72 4-speed car with a 3.42 posi. The Q-Jet was reworked and the cat was bypassed. I didn't take it to the track, but from street comparisions it was probably about 14.4s at 95 mph. The drive train was stock. From a 30 mph roll it had a hard time pulling away from my '68 Catalina wagon. I built a 428 for that and added a '65 tri-power.
