Just a heads up word of warning. I received a Mr. Gasket set and received only one 2 peice rear seal set (rope). Started to assemble my 455. When I used the real seal from the set I went through all the official assembly routine and after I torqued down the rear main the seal flange on both the cap and block broke out. After inventing a whole new group of swear words (and the whole neighborhood receiviing a first hand training in the use) I tore the cap back off. The rear seal groove is NARROWER on the 455 than the 400. And due to the larger main size the casting is thinner at the groove on the 455 than the 400. The combination can break out the seal groove flange. The 455 seal is made thinner than the 400 for that reason. I got the cap welded and now I am waiting for the block. I posted this on the CP board and heard from a couple of people of this happening so I am not the only one. Hope I shed some light on a possible problem to save others from the same bad experience.
