I want to get my gto's endura bumper stripped bare the easiest way possible. Can i get it blasted, and what kind of blasting if i can. Can
I use a stripper without damaging the bumper? Also what do you use to repair a chip or a small gouge in an endura bumper? thanks alot!

I had mine media blasted with plastic media. I would'nt use chemical stripper as the nose is porous and would retain chemicals in it. Even with the media blasting I had the local Pontiac shop bake mine in their heated booth to get the impurities out, before appling flexible primer/sealer and top coats.

Forgot about the chip. If it's small enough, you can fill it with the flexible primer/sealer. If not you'll have to use special filler made just for these bumpers.

i've used the flexible bumper repair kit made by 3-m with good results. it's kinda pricey for small chips but it works well.

Very good advise about staying away from chemical stripping.
If it was my car, I'd also stay very far away from media blasting, since only one mistake from the blaster could ruin a bumper. For what it's worth? I'd go to your local paint jobber. Buy a sleeve of 120 stickit d.a. paper, and slowly machine strip the Endura bumper. Try and leave the factory origional primer. Follow that up with water sanding 320 grit wet/ dry paper. Dura mix also makes a very good flexible parts repair material. If memory serves me correctly, it's cheaper then 3M and has better adhesion. Apply a medium coat of Urethane primer. Wet sand that with 400 grit. If every thing has gone right, you should be ready to paint. Then

I have a question since were on the subject, how can you "soften" up one of these bumpers? I have a friend with a 69 GTO and his bumper is hard! Shouldn't it flex a little?
