I'm almost certain that awhile ago we determined the following: 72 Cars built in late 71 had the 71 140 speedo. Cars built 01/01/72 and after had the 120 speedo with seatbelt warning light. I learned this the hard way when I got my 72 (built Nov 71). It had 140 speedo (which I thought was wrong) and I tried to put in 120 and found out the car had 71 wiring and seatbelt light wouldn't work. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

BN,
My 72 was a very early build too. 8/71. My GTO has the 71 seatbelts and the 140 MPH speedo without the buzzer. I'd bet they were trying to use up leftover parts from the previous year. Also, a 71 part on my GTO is the rearview mirror, has the polished back instead of the black back, as was mandated regulations for 72's.

That is because it was made in a foreign country to me. So is really isn't wierd to Canada. My wife comes from there so fairly familiar with the wierdness of Canadian cars. Dodge and Plymouth were the craziest. Dodge on one end and Plymouth on the other. Then Plymouth on one end and Dodge on the other. Pontiacs with Chevrolet running gear. '60-'69 look wierd with "widetrack" body with narrow track frame.

Just remember this is basically a Traditional Pontiac/Pontiac engine site. So don't feel too bad if you get flamed for some of your comments. Down here we call them illigement (sp) children when a non Pontiac engine is transplanted into a traditional Pontiac engined car.

Sounds like you have a pretty great car though. May have to bring the T-37 up there when I get it running.
