I just finished changing out my old steering box, for a new quick ratio box.
I disconnected the hoses from the pump where they go into the box, and had them up high so they would not drain. I swaped out the box, which came full of fluid from the manufacturer, I reconnected the lines and topped off the fluid. With the front end off the ground, I started up the car and turned the wheel, left and right, all the way. I am now getting a grinding noise from the pump(?), and the fluid inside the reservoir is all foamy. Do you think this is normal and will stop once the fluid circulated around? Something wrong?

I think that's what you will see until the air is purged out of the system.

im no steering expert, but from what ive read the QR boxes should have, if not require, the pump pressure valve doobie be modified or replaced.
if its not an air purge situation, it might be a pump working too hard. steering system experts?? anyone??

Ten to one it's only the air being purged. I had the same thing happen when i replaced the box on a truck of mine. It took about 30 minutes of run time for it to quiet down all the way.
