My 71 455HO without ram-air was missing the correct air cleaner when I bought the car. A man nearby has what I think is a close match to what it came with; it's dual snorkel design with a chrome lid.

Ol' Pinion Head, you've probably heard this story from me. I need more input as to weather I should lay down the $85 for the piece he's got. Is this correct, or even close for car w/o ram-air? Another guy told me they stopped putting the chrome lids in 70 on these cars, he could be right.

That would'nt bother me too much though, I'm really just interested in getting the correct style for the year/model. I'm into originality.

Your input is appreciated.

The '71 & later dual snorkles will not have chrome lid. Good thing, as very expensive to flawlessly chrome a nice painted lid, & the repro's lids are wrong.

As you know, the '71 HO aircleaners are dual heatriser. The price I place on very NICE regular '70-72 core is a little over a $100. Correct snorkle replacement & show quality finish is what drives the price up on my restored '71 HO aircleaners. Wish I could be cheaper, but very time consuming resto, & I have to deal with demand.

Didn't the '71-'72 have a hole cut for the carburetor bowl vent (also '70 Calif. emission models)?
