My problem is. I have a 67 FB convertible that is really rusted out including the front frame where the rear springs attach. I have a 68 Hardtop that is real solid except for a rusted roof. Has anyone ever suscessfully converted a hardtop to a convertible?

Not recommended!

It would labor intensive as the windsheild frame would have to be changed (conv has different windsheild). The upper rear area forward of the trunk lid would have to be changed as well. Conv is flat, h/t is flared up to window.

Safety and strength would also be compromised as the conv has a double wall rocker panel to carry the load from having no top to provide rigidity. So that would have to be changed also.

By the time all thats paid for you could have probably purchased a good conv parts car. And thats if you could use these parts from your car!
