Was given a 57,000 original mile 73 Lemans last night. Going to put the motor in my 81 Formula, not because its a great motor, but because its better than the 301T motor that is sitting there now, and, of course, its free.
Anywho, since I'll need to change the exhaust manifolds, I was thinking of buying a set of the "HO" manifolds. Anyone know which year manifolds will fit that chassis? There must be someone out there who has done this before..... |

Let's see... I put a '73 400 in my '81 TTA, went with Hooker Super Comp headers and then switched to the Ram Air III's Cast headers, which are '70 reproductions, since I had a '70 intake also.
I had no problems with either, installation was fine, but I have heard complaints from those with the 2.5 inch version not sealing to the flange all that well. I bought the 2.25 inch model. |

I was planning on using the 2.5" version too. I'll have to look into that. Thanks.

My manifolds are opened up to 2.5 inches and have worked perfectly. I used the torque tech down pipes and was able to tighten the flanges down before I made the connection to the rest of my system. Some of the manifolds come with 2 bolt flanges, some with 1 side 2 bolt 1 side 3 bolt, mine had both sides 3 bolt flanges which I think makes for a more positive connection.

I ran the 67 GTO H.O. manifolds on my 76 T/A for two years and they fit fine. They have five of the six possible bolt holes to mount to the heads, and have the three bolt flanges on each manifold for the head pipe. Casting numbers Right side 9777641 and Left side 9777646.

Used Ram Air Rest. mainfolds that they enlarged to 2 1/2 with the Torque tech down pipes(mandrel bent) on a 400 I put in an 81 TA in place of the Turbo motor. All fit well. I did have to heat and ding the down pipes by the auto tranny lock linkage.
